Activists are hoping the Auckland Council will make real significant change after it voted yesterday to declare a climate change emergency.
All councillors supported the declaration. But several said the council doesn't have a handle on the scale of the challenge and it will need to make major, concrete changes if the declaration is to be meaningful.
