KiwiBuild pre-approvals raises eligibility questions

From Morning Report, 7:09 am on 11 June 2019

Can someone who says they could raise $650,000 for a deposit to buy a KiwiBuild house be considered a struggling first home-buyer.

According to the Housing Ministry, that's the situation for three people who've been given pre-approval to be part of the scheme.

The Housing Ministry has given details of more than 500 pre-approved applicants after RNZ took a complaint to the Ombudsman.

RNZ political editor Jane Patterson discusses the details with Corin Dann.

Listen above to Jane Patterson's analysis, and watch below for KiwiBuild delivery head Helen O'Sullivan's response.
