NZ criminal justice system not fit for purpose - Chester Borrows

A scathing report into the country's criminal justice system says it is not fit for purpose.

The report, ordered by the Justice Minister Andrew Little, points in particular to the poor treatment of victims - especially victims of sexual crimes.

And it says Māori suffer because racism is embedded in every area of the criminal justice system.

Chester Borrows is leading the Safe and Effective Justice Advisory Group. He joins us in the Auckland studio.
