Tapu te Ranga Marae to be rebuilt after devastating fire

From Morning Report, 6:10 am on 10 June 2019

A member of the extended family whose marae burnt to the ground in Wellington on Sunday says the marae will be rebuilt.

The main building at Tapu te Ranga marae in Island Bay burnt to the ground in the early hours of the morning.

The marae was the life's work of its founder, the late Bruce Stewart, and 45 years of his efforts went up in flames. Wider whānau member Ramu Sannyasi told our reporter Meriana Johnsen that while the building is gone, Bruce Stewart's legacy isn't over.

The givealittle page stands at more than $40,000 on Monday morning.
