Budget 2019: Where's the money going? Panel discussion

From Morning Report, 7:12 am on 31 May 2019

Grant Robertson has delivered his world first Wellbeing Budget after a shambolic lead-up that attracted international attention over a supposed hack of the Treasury website.

But after three days of political turmoil and accusations of lying and incompetence the Finance Minister laid out his plan to transform New Zealand.

At its heart is a $1.9 billion mental health package. Other big ticket items include: $1 billion for KiwiRail, an $80 million boost for Whānau Ora, and more than $500 million on welfare changes, including indexing benefits to wage increases.

So will it work? Corin Dann is joined by NZME's head of business news, Fran O'Sullivan, Economics and politics journalist, Bernard Hickey, Former Green MP and Kotare Trust co-chair Sue Bradford, and Maori political commentator Morgan Godfery.
