Children's Commissioner praises Budget 2019

But the Children's Commissioner, Andrew Becroft, says Budget 2019 prioritises children like almost no other before. The government has pledged to invest more than $1 billion into Oranga Tamariki - the Ministry for Children. It will also fund 16 smaller community-based homes for additional youth justice placements, and to link benefits to wage increases. Judge Becroft told RNZ youth affairs reporter Katie Doyle why he thinks the Budget is a powerful step forward for children.
