Vietnam war veterans want more help for health problems

From Morning Report, 6:16 am on 28 May 2019

New Zealand Vietnam War veterans are calling for even more help as they face health problems related to their war service.

Three thousand New Zealanders served in Vietnam between 1965 and 1972. Over the last few years more work has been done by Veteran Affairs on making contact with the veterans and their families and putting them in touch with the help they need.

The President of the Vietnam Veterans' Association Andy Peters says there's still a general reluctance for veterans to seek assistance for what they are entitled to.

He tells RNZ reporter Andrew McRae there's still a group of veterans who just won't engage.
