Women's Refuge welcomes govt funding to end violence

From Morning Report, 8:24 am on 20 May 2019

Women's Refuge wants the government to ensure that frontline family and sexual violence agencies remain viable while they wait for its new funding package to be rolled out over the next four years. The package will fund the expansion of a police-led initiative on family violence prevention, a kaupapa Maori response to sexual violence, and changes to the justice system which include the use of video victim statements and specialist training for lawyers. It will also fund major advertising campaigns and intervention programmes. Dr Ang Jury is the chief executive of Women's Refuge. She talks to Susie Ferguson.
