Council powerless over development in Wellington

Some Wellington City Councillors are aghast that what they call a 'waste of space' inner-city development will probably get approval, and they can do nothing to stop it. The developers behind The Paddington want to build 151 upmarket terraced houses on Taranaki Street in the central city, with prices starting at $788,000. However, the buildings are only two or three storeys high, in an area with a maximum limit of 27 metres.
