From Morning Report, 7:28 am on 20 May 2019

A national database of crimes that target the Muslim community is being rolled out to reinforce security at mosques and other Islamic buildings.

Former Army major Abdul Lateef Smith is travelling to 40 buildings around the country, assessing security and advising worshipers on how to stay safe in the wake of the Christchurch massacre.

The Federation of Islamic Associations is seeking $1.3 million from the government to beef-up security at the country's mosques and other Islamic buildings. Abdul Lateef Smith talks to Susie Ferguson.
