Why govt delay in scrapping solo mum sanction?

From Morning Report, 6:15 am on 15 May 2019

More questions are being asked about how long it's taking the government to scrap the sanction against solo mums who don't name the father of their children.

Following the release of the expert advisory group's report on the welfare system, the government announced that the sanction will be repealed in April next year.

But one solo mum Josephine - which isn't her real name - says that's not soon enough.

She told RNZ social issues reporter Sarah Robson that her benefit is being docked because she chose not to name the father of her youngest child.
