Teachers' mega-strike: What you need to know

The Education Minister says imminent strike action by teachers is unjustified. Chris Hipkins says the government's $1.2 billion offer is the largest in a decade and the strike won't achieve any breakthrough. Primary and secondary teachers will walk off the job for one day on May 29. It will be the largest ever industrial action taken by teachers, involving almost 50,000 unionised teachers. The secondary teachers union the PPTA says its members have also voted for five weeks of industrial action after the strike, which is still to be planned. RNZ's education correspondent John Gerritsen joins us with the important analysis.
