Teachers' mega-strike not justified - Education Minister

From Morning Report, 6:40 am on 13 May 2019

The Education Minister says the "mega-strike" by teachers won't achieve anything as the government has already put its best pay offer on the table. The two teachers' unions - NZEI and the Post Primary Teachers' Association - have announced they will strike for one day on May 29. It will be the largest ever industrial action taken by teachers, involving almost 50-thousand members. The minister Chris Hipkins told RNZ political editor Jane Patterson that the overall $1.2 billion package is one of the most significant public sector offers in a decade.
