Insight: The complications of dementia in relationships

Experts are warning of the legal complications of getting into a new relationship when a spouse is living with dementia. Almost 70,000 New Zealanders have the illness now; by 2050 100,000 more people will have been diagnosed. As more people find themselves with a spouse in dementia care an Auckland lawyer is urging people to sign pre-nuptial-style agreements to safeguard family assets, if they enter new partnerships. RNZ Insight reporter Teresa Cowie has been talking to people with partners in dementia care who have found new love.
