What it means to be the first Māori Supreme Court judge

Justice Joe Williams says it is daunting to be the first Māori judge on the Supreme Court. Last week, he was announced as the newest member of the the country's highest bench. He's previously held roles as the Chief Judge of the Māori Land Court and chair of the Waitangi Tribunal - and was appointed as a Judge of the Court of Appeal last year. For the first time, he speaks about his new appointment to RNZ Māori News correspondent Leigh-Marama McLachlan.
