North Korea tests missiles as US talks falter

From Morning Report, 7:25 am on 6 May 2019

North Korea tested "long-range multiple rocket launchers and tactical guided weapons" on Saturday in a "strike drill" overseen by the country's leader Kim Jong-un, according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency. It's the North's first missile launch since November 2017, and it comes after denuclearisation talks stalled between leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump in Hanoi in February. Mr Trump has since tweeted that he still believes a deal between North Korea and the United States will happen. Simon Marks is our correspondent in Washington.
