Fiji 'not a democracy' - NZ union leaders

From Morning Report, 6:45 am on 3 May 2019

Fiji's self-described democracy is once under question as it faces fresh scrutiny for arresting and detaining union leaders. Fiji Trades Union Congress' national secretary Felix Anthony, who was arrested on Wednesday along with about thirty others, is still in custody. They were arrested amid protests over job losses at the country's water utility company and ahead of planned demonstrations this weekend. Last night about 30 protesters gathered outside Fiji's High Commission in Wellington. Michael Cropp was there.
