Sri Lanka bombings: Several arrested as death toll climbs

From Morning Report, 7:15 am on 23 April 2019

A day after Sri Lanka was hit by a wave of bombings, the government has said the co-ordinated attacks were carried out by a local Islamist group with help from an unknown international network. Twenty-four people have been arrested - most, if not all, thought to be Sri Lankan. The country's intelligence service was warned 10 days ago that suicide bombers were planning to hit churches and the Indian High Commission. As of Tuesday morning (NZ time) at least 290 people have been killed. For more on the arrests, Morning Report producer Jeremy Wilkinson spoke to our correspondent in Colombo, Easwaran Ratnam.
