Zero-fees tertiary scheme a 'waste' - Shane Reti
National's spokesperson for tertiary education is calling the Government's zero fees scheme a waste of money. A survey by Canterbury University shows that less than 6 percent of students would not of been at university had the policy not existed. One third of the 1000 students surveyed said they were influenced by the policy but those students were more likely to drop out and didn't achieve academically. Dr Shane Reti is National's spokesperson for Tertiary education.
