West Coast 'big mess' as more bad weather looms

From Morning Report, 8:46 am on 9 April 2019

More bad weather is heading for the West Coast, hampering efforts to clean up tonnes of rubbish along the coastline. Two weeks ago flooding in the region caused an old landfill to become exposed, and rubbish was washed down the Fox River with the floodwaters. Aerial surveys show it's washed up on about 50 kilometres of coastline. Now more rain is on the way. MetService predicts 100mm of rain will fall starting tonight.
