Trans-Tasman tug-o-war over star sprinter

From Morning Report, 8:28 am on 8 April 2019

A transtasman tug of war is set to take place over sprinting star Edward Osei-Nketia. The New Zealand-born 17-year-old won the senior 100-metre sprint title at the Australian Athletics Championships on Saturday night. His new personal best time of 10.19 seconds - set in the semifinals - is just eight one-hundreths of a second outside the New Zealand record his father Gus Nketia set at the 1994 Commonwealth Games. Eddie has yet to compete at an IAAF event, once he does, his international allegiance is locked in, until he turns 20. Scott Goodman is the High Performance Director for Athletics NZ. He talks to Guyon Espiner.
