Forestry regulation too light-handed - conservationists

Calls for a fresh look at forestry rules are being backed by a woman in Tolaga Bay, where an estimated million tonnes of logs and debris was scattered over properties after torrential rain last year. The National Environmental Standards for Plantation Forestry came into force last year, but are about to be reviewed by the Government. A new review by environmental groups says the rules governing forestry are light-handed and too permissive. Kate Gudsell reports.
