Gun laws go to select committee

Gun owners are appalled that a parliamentary select committee is giving them just one day to make oral submissions on the government's fast-tracked gun law changes. Written submissions on the Arms Amendment Bill close at six o'clock tonight and the committee will invite a select group of people to appear in-person on Thursday. The timeline has shocked the Council of Licenced Firearms Owners, which expected oral submissions would run for several days. Here's our political reporter, John Gerritsen.
