From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 25 March 2019

The doctors who treat the 125 people who end up in hospital with gunshot wounds each year are calling for much tighter gun controls than the government is planning at the moment. Ministry of Health figures obtained by RNZ News show 629 people were treated for gunshot wounds in the past five years. More than half of those were shot accidentally, followed by 63 people who shot themselves, another 33 were shot at intentionally by another person.
