Grieving woman calls for increase to WINZ funeral grant

A woman who needed financial help from Work and Income to cover the cost of her brother's funeral says the grant needs to be increased for families who are struggling. The Funeral Directors Association says the Work and Income grant - which is just over $2,000 - isn't keeping pace with the rising cost of funerals. One woman, Elizabeth, says while her whanau is grateful for the grant it has been a huge stress finding the rest of the money. She tells reporter Joanna MacKenzie the grant only scratches the surface of the burial costs.
