California halts death penalty
The Governor of California Gavin Newsom has issued a moratorium on the death penalty in the state, halting the executions of 737 inmates on death row. He signed the executive order today, which also calls for the withdrawal of the state's lethal injection protocols and the immediate closure the execution chamber at San Quentin State Prison.
