Great Barrier Islanders are telling Auckland to keep its Americas Cup rubbish to itself as they head to the High Court to try to stop millions of cubic metres of waste being dumped off the coast. The Environmental Protection Authority has allowed the company Coastal Resources Limited to dump 250-thousand-cubic metres of material every year for the next 35 years dredged from developments in Auckland and Waikato. The first batch will include waste from the Americas Cup development. But at least two groups are appealing in the High Court and they say the whole island is behind them. Auckland Issues correspondent Rowan Quinn reports.
