NZ 'an outlier' on capital gains tax - Australian expert
While New Zealand's politicians debate the merits or otherwise of a capital gains tax, in Australia the issue was put to bed years ago. Australians have been paying tax on their capital gains from assets like property, shares and leases since 1985. Chris Evans is a professor of taxation at the University of New South Wales and was consulted by the Government's Tax Working Group. He told our reporter Matthew Theunissen New Zealand is out of line.
