Oil industry defends claims on cost of oil, gas ban

Greenpeace is calling claims the ban on oil and gas exploration will cost the economy $28 billion by 2050 'fake news' and 'flatulence'. The figure comes from research commissioned by the oil industry and carried out by the Institute of Economic Research. The Petroleum Exploration and Production Association says a Government assessment only took account of the cost to the Crown and not the effect on the national and regional economies.
