Resistance to idea of compulsory NZ history lessons
The History Teachers Association has launched a petition for the compulsory teaching of New Zealand's Māori and colonial history in schools. Chairperson Graeme Ball says many students leave school without having studied New Zealand's history. But not everyone likes the idea of history being a compulsory subject, including Te Akatea Māori Principals Association. Myles Ferris is the group's president. He talks to Guyon Espiner.
