Townsville flooding emergency after record rainfall

From Morning Report, 8:40 am on 4 February 2019

Emergency services in Townsville received close to 700 hundred calls for assistance last night. A new seven-day rainfall record has been set in the city from monsoonal rain, and overnight the Ross River Dam's spillway was opened, releasing 2000 cubic metres of water every second. Thousands of residents have evacuated to higher ground as rain buckets down, and flooding continues.
