Napier locals demand shutdown of leaky wastewater pipe

From Morning Report, 6:47 am on 21 January 2019

Residents living near a pipe that's been leaking wastewater from a nearby wood mill onto a public beach, just north of Napier, are calling for the pipe to be shut down until the leak is fixed. The pipe from Pan Pac Forest Products is meant to carry wastewater from its processing plant 2.4 kilometres out to sea, but it has been leaking a brown, foul-smelling water onto the foreshore since September. All attempts to fix the pipe have failed.
