Disability advocate says new report treats people as fools
A disability advocate says a report on the Funded Family Care system is a waste of time and the Government should simply get on with changes everyone knows are overdue. The report was commissioned by the Government and highlights problems with the scheme for funding disabled adults to pay their family carers. It questions the suitability of defining the disabled person as the employer, criticises the complexity of the system and questions why partners aren't able to be paid as carers. It's the third report of its kind and makes no recommendations on how to fix the problems. Disability advocate Jane Carrigan told reporter Catherine Hutton the report will allow the Government to procrastinate.
