Dr Siale Foliaki backs mental health services overhaul

Pacific people are backing calls for mental health services to be overhauled. The Mental Health Inquiry report, released last week, has revealed Pasifika find the current system "hostile, coercive, culturally incompetent, individualistic, cold and clinical". A Middlemore Hospital psychiatrist Dr Siale Foliaki says suicide attempts and self-harm are a growing problem in South Auckland's Counties-Manukau, home to New Zealand's largest Pacific population.
