Man charged with murder of UK backpacker Grace Millane

A 26-year-old man charged with the murder of British backpacker Grace Millaine will appear in the Auckland District Court on Monday. Ms Millane, 22, was last seen outside a hotel one week ago on Saturday, four days later police received a missing person's report and began searching for her. On Sunday she was found dead in the Waitākere Ranges west of Auckland. Detective Inspector Scott Beard made the announcement on Sunday afternoon. Detective Beard wouldn't comment on whether the 26-year-old that has been charged with Grace Millane's murder helped lead them to the body or whether it was because of tip-offs from the public. He said Grace Millane's father David who is in New Zealand was receiving the necessary support. Police are still looking for any information about a 2016 red Toyota Corolla which was rented in central Auckland and then found in Taupō.
