Unions pleased with govt's workplace reform
Unions say the Government's workplace relations laws are a step towards fairer employment, but the reform is only a start. There was a hold up in the Employment Relation Amendment Bill's passage, with New Zealand First unhappy about some of the provisions around multi-employer collective bargaining. But it supported the bill through its second reading, despite previously raising concerns. Council of Trade Unions president Richard Wagstaff told Gia Garrick it will be fighting for further changes down the track, but it is pleased with the progress.
