Canterbury locals unsettled after shooting

From Morning Report, 6:39 am on 26 November 2018

A local Darfield resident says it's unsettling that a shooting in the community has left a man dead and a police officer in hospital. The police received reports that a man had threatened a family member at a house on Bangor Road with a firearm at about four o'clock yesterday afternoon. He fired several shots outside the house. When armed police arrived, they tried to stop the man driving away, by laying road spikes. The police say he drove at one officer, causing a serious leg injury. Officers then fired at the man, and he died in the car. Lindsay Johnston, who lives in Darfield, told RNZ reporter Jessie Chiang the shooting is alarming.
