Kiwibank closes branches as online use rises

Kiwibank says customers in towns were branches are being closed will still have face-to-face options within 10 kilometres from where they live. The state-owned bank announced this week its Johnsonville, Petone, and Stoke branches will close. Kiwibank spokesperson Geoff Waller tells Susie Ferguson some customers may be inconvenienced with further travel demands, but the bank has to balance its desire to be in every community with "rapidly falling" demand for over-the-counter services.
