Govt hires new staff to deal with Opposition's written questions

A government agency has had to hire a new staff member to deal with the barrage of written parliamentary questions from the National opposition, and many Ministerial offices are requesting extra help to cope with the workload. The Immigration Minister's office has had to undertake a restructure to deal with a recent onslaught of questions. Several Ministers have been caught tripping over the timely process of answering them in the past year - which the National Opposition calls incompetence. But a professor is suggesting perhaps the point of parliamentary questions has been lost.
