M bovis forces strict controls for cattle at A&P Show

From Morning Report, 8:40 am on 14 November 2018

Strict controls are in place for cattle exhibitors at Canterbury's A&P Show in Christchurch this week, in light of the cattle disease Mycoplasma bovis. Many agricultural shows have scrapped their cattle sections this year because of the risk posed by the disease, which can cause lameness, mastitis and abortions in cows. But the organisers of Canterbury event are instead opting to impose strict rules for farmers bringing cattle. Maja Burry, visited the showgrounds ahead of the opening day on Wednesday.
