Palestinians in Gaza fire rockets into Israel
Palestinians in Gaza have fired as many as 80 rockets at southern Israel, critically wounding one person in a strike on a bus. The attack follows an assassination of a Hamas military commander by an Israeli special forces operation inside Gaza. According to a statement from Hamas the Israeli officers entered southern Gaza in a civilian car and assassinated 37-year-old Nour Baraka. Six other Palestinians were also killed during the exchange. When the Israeli soldiers were discovered and engaged by Hamas militants, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes to provide cover while the soldiers escaped.
