Trump claims victory in midterms, despite losing House
US President Donald Trump has characterised the midterm election results as a victory for him and his party. The Republicans retained control of the Senate but lost control of the House, which is likely to impede his legislative agenda. Speaking at the White House for the first time since the election Mr Trump was keen to praise politicans who had backed his approach. The press conference got heated at times, especially in this exchange with CNN's Jim Acosta which included a press secretary trying to wrestle the microphone off the reporter.
