From Morning Report, 6:20 am on 8 November 2018

The Māori settlement of Rātana near Whanganui is celebrating 100 years since prophet Tahupōtiki Wiremu Rātana received the vision that began the movement. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern visited on Wednesday and gifted the people of Rātana a bible, harakeke plants and a copy of the Treaty of Waitangi. Ms Ardern noted the strong connection between the Labour Party and the Rātana movement. She also announced the community will get a boost of more than $3 million from the government, to help them develop their land and build homes.
