Quake-hit Sulawesi 'apocalyptic' - Air Force

From Morning Report, 8:37 am on 15 October 2018

The pilot of the New Zealand Air Force squadron sent to the quake-stricken Indonesian island of Sulawesi has described the coastal city of Palu as 'apocolyptic'. The team spent last week delivering aid and evacuating survivors of the 7.5-magnitude earthquake and ensuing tsunami. More the 2000 people are known to have been killed and up to 5,000 are still missing. A further 90,000 are estimated to be homeless. Flight Lieutenant Dave Natapu flew the Air Force Hercules plane sent into Palu. He tells Susie Ferguson getting aid to the affected regions was difficult to start with.
