Wellington mayor suggests community service for sculpture vandal
You break it you buy it... that's the message for the man who broke a Len Lye sculpture on Wellington's waterfront. Hunter MacDonald attempted to climb the 12-metre flexible pole on Monday, breaking it in the process and earning himself a number of head stitches - and potentially a bill in the mail. He sent an apology video to media filmed by a PR agency. Wellington's mayor is Justin Lester. He tells Guyon Espiner Wellington City Council won't pursue charges, it's in the hands of the police, and he'd like to see some community service done.
