Principal 'grilled' by police after restraining violent pupil

From Morning Report, 7:20 am on 9 October 2018

A principal feels he can no longer protect children after he was at the centre of a four-month long police investigation for physically restraining an out-of-control boy in his class. The principal was investigated between August and December last year after the child's mother laid an assault complaint. But the police determined there was insufficient evidence for a criminal prosecution. RNZ has agreed not to identify the principal. Tai Tokerau Principals' Association president Pat Newman told RNZ reporter Lois Williams the principal restrained the child because he was in danger of hurting other children.
