Construction training linked to govt contracts plan welcomed
The construction industry's training body says linking training to the chances of winning lucrative government building contracts will help boost the numbers in the workforce. An extra 1500 people will receive training while working on government infrastructure projects and up to 2300 people will be enrolled in construction-related education. But the industry says smaller firms taking on novices to train will need the government's support. The head of the Building industry's Training Organisation is Warwick Quinn. He talks to Susie Ferguson.
