Cows possibly killed after entering 1080 drop area - farmers

From Morning Report, 6:45 am on 19 September 2018

A farming couple who suspect eight of their cows were killed by 1080 say it's possible the animals got through a gate and grazed in the area where the poison was dropped. The Department of Conservation is investigating how the cattle died after a pest control operation on Waikato conservation and private land two weeks ago. Paula and Mark Stone run a dry stock property near Te Kuiti. They say they were approached by the Ministry for Primary Industries and agreed to the 1080 drop on their property after an official visited them. But Mrs Stone told Kate Gudsell they feel disappointed by the lack of communication from DOC and MPI over the drop. The couple are now being represented by lawyer Sue Grey, known for representing anti-1080 protestors.
