Hundreds help to count homeless in Auckland
Hundreds of volunteers fanned out across Auckland last night to undertake the very sensitive task of counting the region's homeless. The census, called Ira Mata, Ira Tangata, is the first of its kind in the city. Armed with a map and a specially designed app, small teams headed to known homeless haunts - and also scanned less likely areas - as the city tries to understand just how big a problem it has. Rowan Quinn joined the volunteers at the central hub as they headed out on their mission.
