Abuse victim blasts school for not removing teacher after complaint

From Morning Report, 7:11 am on 14 September 2018

A sex abuse victim is calling for a prestigious Catholic school to sack its rector for not removing a teacher who sexually assaulted him decades earlier, when they were both teenagers.

RNZ has heard a call taped by the Otago Daily Times in which Robin Pettit agreed that he had attacked Peter Boock.

This was in Dunedin when Mr Pettit was 19 and Mr Boock was 13. In 2011, Mr Boock found out that Mr Pettit was working as a teacher at St Bedes College in Christchurch.

The school says it investigated properly in 2011. The Education Council is now looking into the case. Phil Pennington reports.
